About the Role
We're Virtual Wizards, a staffing partner helping U.S. companies build out their remote teams. We're currently hiring on behalf of our client, a boutique property management firm based in San Francisco that offers end-to-end property management by combining modern tools with a hands-on, personal approach to deliver seamless experiences for owners and tenants.
Our client is looking for an ambitious, self-directed Growth & Outbound Marketing Manager to build their brand and owner acquisition engine from the ground up. This is primarily a marketing and brand-building role - SEO, content, lead generation, and brand positioning are the core of the job - with outbound prospecting as a secondary, supporting responsibility (roughly 70/30). This is a foundational hire: you'll be the first dedicated growth resource on the team, laying the groundwork for what will eventually become a full marketing and sales function as the business scales. You'll report directly to the two founders.
This is not a "post and pray" social media role, and it's not primarily a cold-calling role either. Our client is looking for a true killer on the marketing side - someone who can write content that actually grabs attention, knows SEO inside and out, can optimize a Google Business Profile to actually drive calls, and understands how to turn all of that into a brand that owners recognize and trust. If you love building a brand and a marketing engine from zero and owning the results, this is your seat.
Who They're Looking For / Their Ideal Client
Our client has grown their portfolio almost entirely on inbound referrals so far, and they're intentionally shifting toward a more targeted growth strategy - designing the business they want rather than letting inbound dictate it. They're not trying to compete with the large national players; they're carving out a niche managing boutique, family-owned commercial buildings and small multifamily properties. Understanding this client profile is what should shape your content, positioning, and (when you do turn to outbound) who you target.
Their ideal client:
- Multifamily properties in the 5–10 unit range
- Small to mid-size commercial and mixed-use buildings, typically family-owned, where the owner needs someone other than a family member running day-to-day operations
- Not a fit: Large buildings with heavy infrastructure/OSHA requirements, or anything competing with major institutional property management firms
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
Our client wants to hire intentionally, not just fill a seat. In the first 90 days, they're looking for:
- A clear, documented picture of the ideal client profile and messaging that speaks directly to them
- The core marketing foundation live and generating trackable leads: an optimized, SEO-driven website, a fully optimized Google Business Profile, and at least one working lead magnet feeding the CRM
- Early content (blog, social, local SEO pages) published and building traction
- Once that foundation is live, a first outbound campaign tested as a secondary channel against their target property owners
- Clean attribution so they know exactly which channel - marketing or outbound - is producing their best-fit clients, not just the most leads
Key Responsibilities
Growth Marketing & Brand Building (Primary Focus)
- Own SEO end-to-end - keyword strategy, on-page optimization, and building out "Areas We Serve" / local SF neighborhood pages that actually rank
- Fully own and optimize the Google Business Profile (and Yelp) to drive inbound calls and leads, not just maintain a listing, including proactive review-generation campaigns
- Design, write, and build lead magnets (e.g., a Free Rental Analysis / rental estimate calculator) and automate the funnel with tools like Zapier or Make so leads land directly in the CRM
- Write and publish blog content and other written assets that are genuinely engaging - not generic AI filler - built to attract, educate, and convert property owners
- Manage organic content and social channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube/Shorts), including founder thought-leadership posts on SF real estate trends and rent ordinance updates, property walkthroughs, before/after virtual staging content, client testimonials, and neighborhood spotlights
- Build the brand from the ground up: consistent voice, visual identity, and positioning across the website, social, and every piece of content put out
- Set up and maintain tracking (GA4, Microsoft Clarity, source/attribution tracking) so the team knows exactly which channels are converting - and which are producing the best-fit clients, not just the most volume
Outbound Support (Secondary)
- Once the marketing foundation is running, support light outbound campaigns (email, direct mail) toward self-managing owners (e.g., owners self-listing on Zillow/Craigslist) and absentee owners who may be underserved by their current management
- Research specific properties and ownership (using tools like PropStream, Reonomy, and public records) when flagged by the founders - e.g., "who owns this building and are they worth approaching"
- Help put together simple supporting materials for outreach (a rental analysis, a quick market comparison) using the same tools and content already being built for marketing
- Support scheduling of discovery calls when outbound generates interest; the founders will lead the actual sales conversations
Documentation & Systems
- Document the processes, tools, and campaigns you build so they're never dependent on any one person's memory - dashboards, SOPs, and automated reporting that keep running and stay maintainable
- Set things up so the foundation you build compounds over time rather than requiring a rebuild if priorities shift
Reporting & Iteration
- Track and report on organic marketing metrics (traffic, leads, conversion by source) as the primary measure of success
- Report on which channels - marketing or outbound - are producing the target ICP (5–10 unit multifamily, small family-owned commercial), not just raw lead count
- Continuously improve the systems you build - this role owns the growth engine end-to-end, not just a single campaign
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in organic/inbound marketing, content marketing, or growth marketing (real estate or property management experience is a strong plus, not required)
- Proven SEO chops - able to point to content or pages built that actually ranked and drove traffic
- Strong content writer and storyteller - someone who can turn a blog post, LinkedIn post, or landing page into something people actually stop and read; comfortable with visual/video content (Reels, Shorts) a plus
- Track record optimizing Google Business Profiles and local listings to drive real inbound leads, not just upkeep
- Experience building lead magnets and funnels (e.g., calculators, guides, assessments) and automating them with tools like Zapier or Make
- Hands-on experience with GA4, Microsoft Clarity, and a CMS/website platform
- AI-fluent - comfortable using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Claude Code, and image tools like Midjourney/Canva AI, to accelerate content creation and workflow automation
- Fluent, native-level spoken and written English with clear, reliable communication
- Some exposure to outbound prospecting tools (PropStream/Reonomy or similar) is a plus, but this is not primarily an outbound/sales role
- Analytical mindset - as comfortable in the data validating what's working as being creative
- A builder's mindset and a "killer" instinct: genuinely excited to create a brand and a marketing engine from scratch rather than execute an existing playbook
Why Join
- This is a foundational role with real ownership - you'll build the marketing engine, brand, and playbook the client's future marketing and sales team is built around
- Direct access and exposure to the founders and business strategy, with real influence over how the company grows
- As the client builds out a dedicated marketing and sales function, this role has a clear path to grow into leading it
- Compensation upside as the role - and the business - grows, including a path toward an incentive/commission structure tied to closed business
